Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) is designed for water purification. The media used (carbon) is oleophilic which means “oil loving” that has a strong attraction to organic compounds and any other nonpolar contaminants which adsorb onto the carbon surface.
The primary mechanism of GAC work is adsorption and that is why it is widely used to reduce undesirable taste, color, or odor and improves the safety of drinking water by removing common disinfection byproducts (THMs), organic contaminants like chlorinated solvents and other pollutants, pesticides, and selected heavy metals such as lead and mercury.
Applications include: Water Purification, Industrial, Mining, Fracking, Sewage Treatment, Pre-Treatment, Paint, Distillery and Beverage. And, can be integrated with other GWS water treatment systems; Reverse Osmosis, UV, Sand Filter and even separators.
